Travel Tips For Kids

Whether you’re heading out of town for summer camp, a family vacation, or a holiday trip, be sure to pack your asthma and allergy supplies and medications along with your clothes and toothbrush.

Follow these tips to ensure you have a safe and fun trip:

  • Take a letter from your doctor that lists all your medications, dosages, and when to take them, as well as your treatment plan.

  • Traveling without mom or dad? Make sure they write a letter giving an adult on the trip permission to take care of you in an emergency. (Parents: This letter should be notarized.)

  • Pack enough medications to last through the entire trip, plus a few extra days.

  • Luggage can get lost, especially when you travel by plane, train, or bus. Keep your medication on board with you. That way if your luggage is lost or delayed, you still have your medication handy.

  • If possible, pack an extra set of medications, or prescriptions for replacements, and give them to someone else to carry in case something happens to yours.
